CARTERET COUNTY – The Carteret County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an alleged murder-suicide of a mother and son that occurred Friday in Newport.Deputies were called to do a welfare check at a residence located at 563 Gales Creek Rd. shortly after 5 a.m. but no one was home.
