Judge orders new trial for man convicted of murder after witness changes story

Timothy Evans was convicted of second-degree murder in 1993, but his conviction is now being challenged because his co-defendant has recanted his testimony.A Durham judge overturned the murder conviction of Timothy Evans and ordered that he be given a new trial after hearing evidence that Evans’ cousin and co-defendant, Richard Waller, recanted his testimony.
