Recent arrests shed light on sheriff's 'maintenance nightmare'

Three inmates have been charged recently after the sprinklers in cells at the Onslow County Jail were purposefully damaged.Stephen John Scott, 67, Damien Drew Smith, 28, and Darryl Andre Medley, 43 are each facing one count of felony interfering with jail/prison fire system.Scott was charged on Dec. 4 for allegedly using a plastic spoon to manipulate the covered water valve and causing the sprinkler head to activate, The Daily News reported.
